dehydrating chiles

The only thing this summer heat is good for is dehydrating. Sliced up some hot peppers that we were not gonna get to eat before tomorrow’s CSA pickup and layered them into the dehydrator. Plugged that sucker in on the back porch and within a couple of hours I had this. Perfectly dehydrated chiles for salsas and whatever else needs a pinch of heat later in the year.

I usually just pop a few straight into the blender when making fresh salsas and may give these guys a grind in the spice mill for adding jalapeño flavor to caldo de papa or tortilla soup while avoiding big bites of chile.
