passing recipes on

As we prep the 20yo for departure there is controlled chaos – half packed bags as we play the weight/size game with luggage, boxes of last minute items that aren’t reasonable additions for flights, and visual clutter as we reconcile making best use of our space. The list is now widdled down, so I have some mental energy to finally wrap my head around one of the most exciting components of this big move – recipes.

I will no longer be involved in the daily meal prep for the 20yo. No more carefully packed parcels of food to demonstrate my care and love when leaving the house. So what I am left with is recipes to pass on and virtual cooking lessons when needed. You’d think that having kept a food blog for over a decade would mean more things written down. Gah! I have never been that type of cook and even if I was, writing recipes for someone else to cook is… well… hard. Writing recipes for a neurodivergent, disabled kid? Well… that means rethinking every step and tool needed.

Writing these will take time and we may have a long term project on our hands that involves a recipe or two a month and virtual cook alongs. So to say I am excited about this new food adventure with the 20yo is an understatement.
