I have always kept a meal planner close by. Right after I get done writing this post, I’ll probably scour my planner archive and come up with an exact-ish number of years, but let’s just say it has been a long long time.
On a daily basis, it serves a practical purpose – veggies I have on hand, kitchen to do list, ideas for what to cook, and on the best week… a good tracking of what we ate. The archive ends up feeling like a bit of an archive. What was in rotation when <fill in blank> or more aptly a catalog of the points in time where life lacked time/patience for my meditations on food.*
Now that I am entering a phase a more recipe development, I am realizing that my system needs some tweaking. I need space for recipe and ingredient notes, a more defined area for photos, and a better system for seasonal items that are on repeat week to week.

Only a few pages left in the calendar year so it seems like the perfect time to play with it all.
* Mar-Dec 2000 for instance is a big ol’ string of blank pages.
