Cooking has always had this grounding effect on me but these days I have been relying on kitchen tasks to slow things down a bit. Bread-making, fermenting things… it takes a different sort of presence that forces me to check in no matter how much stuff is floating around in my head.
This week, I am turning to the sprouting of beans. Twice a day checks for moisture, daily rinses, and visual cues marking my care will help get me out of my head and hopefully yield some crunchy sprouts for meals later this week.
