on a sprout kick

Making homemade sprouts is not a hard thing to do, but the rinsing and draining of the seeds is *just* cumbersome and fussy enough that I have always struggled to make it part of my regular kitchen rotation. I’ve considered elaborate sprouting screen systems that you rotate and have been scouring eBay for over a decade in search of that clay sprouted that IKEA released forever ago. Too much fuss.

Entrez these nifty little lids for mason jars that have been around to forever. They are fabulous. They make the rinsing and draining step of the process an absolute breeze and so we will now have a couple of types of sprouts in rotation moving forward. We like mung bean sprouts for stir fries and will likely switch between alfalfa and radish sprouts for sandwiches and salad toppings.
