shifting priorities

Somewhere along the way, the soups in our “soup and bread” thanksgiving meals lost their broth and then someone suggested mashed potatoes as a go with… so now we are a “beans and ‘taters” house for this slow day at home. The beans come from the cupboard. The greens that go with the beans are generally kale, but this year the CSA box had collards. The mashed potatoes will get mushed shortly and they’ll get flavored with whatever the designated musher decides to add in.

Next year will likely be different and a whole other set of priorities may rule the day.

If you know us, you know that we don’t buy into what is being celebrated today, but we do relish in the quiet that is offered when absolutely everyone else is off celebrating in their own ways and with their own traditions. For that, we are grateful.
