cooler mornings | menu notes september 1, 2010

The daytime temperatures this week will finally stop creeping into the 90s and this coming Thursday, I think, marks the official beginning of our Texas autumn. If the weather predictions turn out to be true, I’ll be able to crank the oven on for bread. Broths for soup are definitely on the mind as well. I’ve been craving posole for months and it may finally be time!

Loose plan for the week ahead:
Rava Dosas with Potato Chickpea Masala
Linguini with Tomato Almond Pesto | Spinach Salad
Tomato Soup with Chickpeas and Roasted Eggplant
Goat Cheese & Roasted Red Pepper Sandwiches | Roasted Sweet Potatoes with Toasted Almonds

Other stuff:
Oatmeal Bread (??)
Carrot Muffins
Red Vegetable Stock
Black Peppercorn Stock
Spinach & Feta Mini-Quiches

I’ve been trying to figure out if there is a pattern to the foods that we most crave and I think it’s something like – Indian Food | Sandwich & Salad | Mexican Food | Soup & Salad | Breakfast for Dinner. There are slight variations that mix in Asian Food or more Mexican, but I think it’s clear that we are habit-mongers when it comes to our food. Good… I think.
