lessons learned this summer| CSA – september 24, 2010

If I learned anything this summer it is these two things – (1) bread-baking is a no-no in the Texas heat and (2) okra is not my friend.

Nevertheless, it has made its way into my CSA box this week. Any takers? I think I’ve given up. Rest of the box’s contents below:

Arugula (I love it when people call them roquettes, sounds more fun)
Bok Choy
Fall Tomatoes
Butternut Squash
Zucchini
Yellow Squash
Sweet Potatoes
Onions
Basil
Peppers (Sweet and Hot)
Eggplant
Okra
Green Onions

Nothing throws off your seasonal senses quite like getting butternut squash, tomatoes, zucchini and rockets all in one box. What can I say? Texas “seasons” can be confusing.

Be kind. Be patient. Eat well.
