My impatience got the best of me and I sliced into a cantaloupe before it was ready to eat. I knew that it was going to need some rescuing pretty much immediately. Thank goodness for popsicles and aguas frescas! Both are among my favorite summer time treats and come in handy when you have a melon (or any fruit) that isn’t as sweet as you had hoped. Watermelon, honeydew and mango work really well, too.
Cantaloupe Agua Fresca
1 cup of pureed fruit
1 cup of water
1-2 tablespoons of preferred sweetener*
Mix all ingredients well and pour through sieve.
Discard pulp and store remaining liquid in fridge till ready to serve.
Pour over ice and enjoy!
* Feel free to make agua fresca with cantaloupe that is awesome all on its own and omit the sweetener. 🙂
I have cantaloupes growing in the green house and if they all ripen at the same time there’s going to be a heck of a batch of agua fresca here!
i wish we had the space to grow our own cantaloupes! that would be awesome! let me know how your stab at agua fresco turns out. 🙂
Yum! I’ve never tried these but with three ingredients it’s awfully tempting!
That’s so easy and tasty looking!
yay!
Just made watermelon version. ice pops for kids, agua fresca for me! rad!!!
