I am crossing my fingers that the dishwasher repair guy will yield fabulous results tomorrow and am prepping myself for a week of yum in the kitchen with our CSA stash:
- Rainbow chard
- Daikon
- Salad turnips
- Salad mix
- Kohlrabi
- Parsley
- Spinach
- Fennel
- Parsnips
- Beets
- Leeks!!
What are you cooking this week?
P.S. I have officially maxed out on loquats. It was bound to happen.
So I got a bunch of parsnips yesterday and was just going to roast them, but I bet you are doing something much more interesting. Any suggestions?
i’ve been throwing them in juice the past few weeks – apples, parsnips & spinach. can also use them in place of carrots in soups (minestrone is particularly yummy with them). if you got turnips, you can make a hash and throw a fried egg on top. 😉
Oh! Also, I’m so interested in the loquats. Do you know of any public places to gather them? I and my neighbors do not grow them.
i don’t think that anyone grows them on purpose. 😉 there are lot of trees throughout South Austin neighborhoods. if you feel brave enough, you should walk up to the door and ask if you can grab a few. mostly, folks are happy to get harvesting help.
Oh! Awesome! Thanks!
Hi! I don’t subscribe to the JBG box, but purchase a variety of veggies from a variety of the local farms. However, a friend was heading out of town and offered me her JBG box for the week. I’m guessing this is the CSA you use, since the veggies look very familiar. 🙂 I haven’t read enough of your blog to know if you are vegan or simply vegetarian, so if you and your audience are vegan, my apologies for mentioning dairy products. I am making a fennel and portobello mushroom pizza, a strawberry and spinach salad, cream of leek soup and a swiss chard lasagna. I haven’t decided what to do with the rest. Have a great week!
i would say that about 80% of our meals are vegan but we make room for an occasional cheesy dish. lasagna sounds like a fab idea! and yes… JBG FTW. we do pickups every other week which helps keep things different week to week.
