Traditions and an upcoming bake sale means we have a week of lots of desserts – birthday cake (for him), birthday pie (to celebrate same birthday at work) and mini-cakes for next weekend’s Austin Bakes. Still working out particulars, but more to come…
It has been ages since I made a loaf of yeasted bread from scratch. The stars aligned just so yesterday (Sunday), so I meandered my way through a new (for me) process that involved an extra resting point for the batter before kneading. I am incredibly pleased with the texture and structure, so I think I may stick to it. Had forgotten how satisfying a process bread-baking can be. Gonna take advantage of the upcoming […]
As I was knee-deep in flour and batter this morning, I realized that I now have a Halloween tradition – baking! I usually make a pumpkin bread to take to our Halloween hosts (party and trick or treating later tonight) and then there is the birthday cake for tomorrow. You can sign up to volunteer, donate to Americares through their giving page, or stop by one of the Austin Bakes for West locations around town on Saturday, May 4 between […]
