weekend recap and bread (!!)

from the oven

It has been ages since I made a loaf of yeasted bread from scratch. The stars aligned just so yesterday (Sunday), so I meandered my way through a new (for me) process that involved an extra resting point for the batter before kneading. I am incredibly pleased with the texture and structure, so I think I may stick to it. Had forgotten how satisfying a process bread-baking can be. Gonna take advantage of the upcoming […]

happy halloween | aneelee.wordpress.com

As I was knee-deep in flour and batter this morning, I realized that I now have a Halloween tradition – baking! I usually make a pumpkin bread to take to our Halloween hosts (party and trick or treating later tonight) and then there is the birthday cake for tomorrow. That one is going to be a yellow butter cake with a fudge frosting. Yum. The other tradition? Throwing out last year’s Halloween candy before we […]

I have no idea what I will be making for dinner and will most likely rely on repeats from the past couple of weeks. I DO know […]

busy week for the oven | menu – week of march 28

It has cooled down significantly over the past couple of days and I think the trend will continue for the greater part of next week. Cooler weather at this time of year [in South Central Texas] is rare so I’ve been gazing out the window in the morning and daydreaming about San Francisco. Sigh. Once the heat really does kick in, it will be nearly unbearable to bake and roast, so I shall spend the […]
