What’cha snackin’ on today? We’ve been munching through pounds of carrots. Plain, dipped in hummus, or cut into coins and popped like popcorn. So good. 12yo loves the yellow ones best lately.
Picked what I hope is my first of many batches today. Neighbor said that in his 40 years in the neighborhood, no one has ever asked about picking. What?!? As far as he knows, the squirrels and birds have been feasting at springtime for years. It is a HUGE tree and I have been granted full access. 🙂 Last year was a total wash for our loquat love (moving, crazy work schedule, drought, etc.), so […]
Things have been a little quiet on the blog because we have been very busy getting the 11yo ready for her first trip sans parentals. There has been lots of practice and more lists than you could probably imagine, but all that work has paid off. She is stoked! Her adults are at varying levels of nervousness about the entire ordeal, but we are inching along to an okay place about it all. I am, of course, coping […]
dandelion greens, spinach, kale, fennel, parsley, radishes, beets, carrots, mixed greens, spring onions, leeks, artichokes, parsnips, broccoli

Also came home with sweet potatoes, carrots, brussel sprouts, collards, kale, spinach, lettuce, radishes, beets, daikon, cabbage and spring onions. Will spend the better part of Saturday cleaning and prepping everything for the week. As for the artichokes… scouring the cookbook collection to stop my reflex to steam and dip in butter.
We are in the home stretch to summer break and have (remarkably) been eating mostly from the kitchen the past few weeks. We’ve only resorted to pizza a few nights so far this month. Soup and sandwiches, quick batches of pancakes, and re-worked leftovers have been at the center of my no-fuss approach. Here’s what we have on the docket for the rest of the rest of this week: Meals Tortilla Casserole | Arroz y Frijoles Roasted […]
I had a pretty fantastic weekend. So great, that I even managed to set aside some time for meal planning. Trying out my mother’s day gift (an Evernote Moleskine) may have also been a motivating factor. 😉 A Moleskin all in its own is pretty darned fancy, but an Evernote Moleskine has the added bonus of capturing my scribbles into searchable text. Queue cloudy skies parting overhead. Yes! My scribbles can be indexed so I can […]
