freeze your greens

January means lots and lots (and lots) of greens in our CSA stash and honestly, it is tough to make it through that many greens! To help reduce waste, I’ve turned to this quick preserving method that both keeps the greens out of the garbage and keeps portions at the ready year-round. Frozen Greens Ice […]

cake for breakfast

If reaching 41 has earned me anything, it is the right to eat what I want when I want it. Today that means cake first thing in the morning! Today is off to a fabulous start.  Happy Wednesday. Note: It’s a honey-sweetened, dairy-free, whole-grain almond cake so… maybe not so reckless.

forty one

I am probably way more excited about my birthday tomorrow than what is acceptable for an adult. Totally okay with that. Year Forty was good to me (to us) and if Year Forty One keeps up at the pace and energy that we are currently riding… it is going to be THE year. So […]

weekend cooking FTW

Those Sunday and Saturday night cooking sessions to help me get a jump start on food for the week have become more and more critical with every year that passes. The stews that need long simmers, the bakes for snacks and sandwiches, and batches of grains/legumes make quick grab-n-go lunches a possibility and mean that a quick meal […]

csa stash – 1/16/16

Just tucked a pretty life-changing week under our belts. CSA pickup every other week remains gratefully constant. Meal plan coming…

More official meal plan to follow, but I see ingredients for stir-fries and salads and a stromboli and a […]

One of my recipes from the zine made it into the The Taco Cleanse: The Tortilla-based Diet Proved to Change Your Life, which this post is dedicated to. Enthusiasm and […]

weekend recap and bread (!!)

It has been ages since I made a loaf of yeasted bread from scratch. The stars aligned just so yesterday (Sunday), so I meandered my way through a new (for me) process that involved an extra resting point for the batter before kneading. I am incredibly pleased with the texture and structure, so I think […]

It is a particularly special Taco Tuesday because today also marks the offical release of The Taco Cleanse: The Tortilla-based Diet Proven to Change Your Life. You can look forward to a day of taco posts, tweets, and pix. And if you don’t have plans for a taco (or two) today, make them! You deserve […]

CSA stash – 10/10/15

The fall season marks the beginning of an 8-9 month watermelon mourning season. Perhaps more importantly though, it means the start of greens-washing season. Wash, spin, wash again, spin, and then lay out on a rag for its final drying stage before it gets portioned and sent to the fridge.  Today’s CSA stash means […]
