MoreI ended up with a little more variety than originally expected, but we seem to have eaten through way more of our veggies last week than I planned. I picked up a few extra things – cauliflower and an acorn squash from the grocery store to help. I am also trying a completely new (to […]
MoreThere’s no fighting it. It is cold in Austin and the only way to survive the chill is going to be to embrace the oven. Roasting squashes. Baking bread. Dreaming about melty casseroles.
MoreSchool, work, and the routines that come with it all are long overdue. Mornings may be a little rough after weeks of serving breakfast near-10am, but the rest of it should fall into place. Hope you have an easy week back and that you find a little seasonal inspiration for your meatless meals in my […]
MoreI’ll have my first meal plan of the year up by tomorrow morning! I realize that many of you will be shopping over the weekend to get your ducks in a row for the work week, so please be sure to take a peek at my winter meal plan archive if you need some ideas […]
MoreMy stash of tomato preserves has taken a hit over this winter break. I may be relying on it too heavily. Dialing use back a few notches to make sure it lasts us through May/June. What’s left: 9 pints crushed, 4 pints basic sauce, 6 pints roasted green + freezer stash.

MoreIt is Thanksgiving week and we are breaking up our veggie routine by giving a new local CSA program a whirl. I love the flexibility that picking up my CSA at Johnson’s Backyard Garden at the market offers, but I figured it was time to give someone else a shot. That someone else is Farmhouse […]
MoreGreetings from an unusually cold Austin! I had grand plans to get my week of meals kickstarted over the weekend, but something had me feeling icky. There were some germs in the vicinity so it was collectively decided that I should not be in charge of any food prep with potentially germ-ridden hands. Feeling way better now, […]
MoreStating the obvious here. The freezer and the vast offerings of Austin’s culinary establishments have rescued us this week, but I just got done with a much-overdue grocery trip. We are eating at home tonight!
MoreThere is way too much on the ballot this year to stay home! Austinites, go claim your stake in our local, state, and federal representation. It’ll be too late tomorrow and way too late in a year when all the effects of this representation start to take shape. Note sure what you’re voting for? There are […]
