meal plan – september 19, 2011
The temperatures have dropped quite a bit in the past few days, which means that baking can get thrown back into the week’s plan. I made some lovely little Whole Wheat Applesauce Muffins this morning that may be getting added into the regular muffin rotation this fall and I am hoping that I feel up […]

Moremeal plan | september 7, 2011
My plans for a quiche and soup dinner last week were squashed by the heat, but I think that we may be nearing more seasonally appropriate temperatures (for Central Texas ayways) so I shall forge ahead with more plans for hearty meals and a couple that even require the oven. Dinner: Split Pea Soup | […]

Phew! That was a long and hot summer break. I had ambitious editorial expectations for myself this summer and I now know to expect less of myself in the summer months when the girlie is home with me and the heat makes it nearly impossible to set into motion. We delivered the girl (now eight!) […]
Moreschool preparedness & assimilation camp
We are on Day One of our School Preparedness & Assimilation Camp. We finished breakfast at 8:45 and I think it would take us another 30 minutes to get out the door if we really had to today. Luckily, Day One, is about identifying problem areas. The girl read in bed for too long, we […]
Moreturning eight
My daughter is turning eight in a little under a week and I am doing my best to not get all fluttery about how overwhelmingly BIG she is getting. Her summers are usually set aside for easing into her new, older skin. This particular summer’s transformation is, by far, the most drastic that we have […]
Moremeal plan | july 25, 2011
Craving lots of my mama’s food this week so I’m throwing in the Seitan con Papas and Tamales for a bit of home with a vegetarian twist. I’ve only planned through Friday, but am hoping to get some inspiration for those meals as the week progresses. Monday Breakfast: Tacos! Packed Lunch: Leftover Black Bean Veggie […]
Moremeal plan | week of july 11, 2011
We have seven weeks left of our summer break which means that it is time for me to step it up. I have ingredients for a full seven meals on hand right now and I am hoping that I can crank through it all by the middle of next week (at the latest) and have lots of leftovers on hand for lunches. Also hoping that I can whip my breakfast planning back into shape.
Moresummer snack | watermelon popsicles
post-walk snack, a photo by a_neelee on Flickr. These live in the freezer all summer. I usually reserve a full quarter of a watermelon to ensure we have enough to stash for hot days when simple cut fruit just isn’t cold enough. Watermelon Popsicles Cut fruit away from rind. Place fruit in blender and puree […]
Moreweekend meal plan | july 1, 2011
Sadly, the severe drought that we are experiencing has put a stop to any fireworks fun this year. We’ll spend most of the holiday enjoying each other’s company, cooking and traipsing about the city’s libraries, bookstores and record shops. Have a great holiday and I shall catch you on the flip side of it. Quickie meal […]
Morefriday’s links – june 24, 2011
We’ve been busy getting a new business off the ground and keeping the seven-year old busy while we’re busy. Phew! Haven’t done a Friday’s Links post in forever and thought that it would be a good way to baby-step my brain back into food-bloggin’ mode. The awesome papercraft recipe for chile con carne is by Sarah […]
Morecelebrating him
Father’s day went off fantastically well. We kept things simple so a perfect balance of eat-sleep-play-lounge-eat could be achieved. Blueberry-Yogurt Smoothies and Tacos for breakfast. Fideos for Lunch. Honeydew Popsicles to stave off the heat in the afternoon and yummy sandwiches for dinner. Hope you had an equally pleasant day with the ones that you […]
